Zyxmon Settings:
Main tab of program settings
Specify Router IP and Router Password (router password is "1234" for
just purchased and unconfigured devices). Adjust other option at your
own choise. "Pause on startup for N sec" option is applicable only if
you use "Run at Windows startup" option. Increase "Wait Router response"
value if you have timeout errors when using Zyxmon.
Extra settings tab (version 0.49 and later)
Check "General program log" - if you want а monthly log file of Zyxmon
starts/stops, assigned dynamic IP, etc. Check "Encrypt" passwords - if
you want to encrypt passwords in DynDNS logs and Zyxmon.ini files. This
encryption is VERY primitive, it will take a few seconds for a
professional to decrypt encrypted data. You can translate Zyxmon
interface to your language (see plain text English.lng text file for
details) and select your language in the Language listbox. The commands
for PPPoE start/stop session can be adjusted if they differ for your
device or if you are using PPPoA instead of PPPoE (I do not know PPPoA
start/stop session commands and cannot check this option because my ISP
uses PPPoE). Generaly you can enter "wanif0" (without quotes) as a SMT
WAN interface name. Zyxmon defines this name automatically, but in some
cases (for example for Prestige 662HW with firmware V3.40(QR.3) it does
not work). You can also change Telnet Client font on this tab.
Syslog settings
The settings on this tab are fairly simple. "Abbreviated log"
checkbox means that log strings will be shorter
SNMP settings
If you want to use "SNMP traffic Grapher" you should first define
interface to monitor. Press the topmost button (Show list of interfaces)
and select an active(+)
interface (usually ppp or mpoa are the best
choice). Press "Test" button - to check that SNMP works. If you do
not wish to monitor incomming, outgoing traffic or uptime leave
corresponding inputs blank.
Waring. As it was reported by owners of ZyXEL 650R - the firmware V3.40(QE.2) has errors in SNMP. All integer values send by SNMP protocol have random values. Upgrading firmware to V3.40(QE.3) , 10/18/2004 solves SNMP problems.
DynDNS settings
New ZyXEL routers have DynDNS registration implemented in firmware. If
you have an old Zyxel router (i.g. 645R) enter required information on
this tab. If you have multiple domains, seperate them with commas.
